Here at PURE grips, we’re always looking for ways to give back to our customers and the greater golf community. After being invited to the Miura Cup in China this year, we got inspired to try and duplicate that amazing experience for our customers. 

Now we knew that if we were going to put on an awesome golf tournament, we had to go big.  We’d need tons of prizes, at least one celebrity, a great golf course and, of course, a bunch of winners to enjoy it all! Luckily for us, we don’t do anything halfway. 

Finding the Right Course
The first step was finding the right course. With over 250 golf courses in the Phoenix area, this wasn’t easy. We eventually decided on the Talking Stick Resort, and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision.  With a hotel, casino, great dining and, in the words of Hank Haney “the best golf course I have been to in the Phoenix area,” we knew we’d found the perfect spot. 

The Perfect Celebrity
Speaking of perfect, with our new partnership with golf legend Hank Haney having started in January, how could we go wrong? This wasn’t just any celebrity. This was an expert on the golf swing offering to give a free clinic. Our contest winners were in for a real treat. 

The Lucky Winners
Next we needed some winners to enjoy everything we’d put together. First we selected 10 winners from customers who’d entered the contest on our Facebook page. Two winners were chosen by Golfsmith (one on their Facebook page and one from an in-store drawing).  One winner was selected by posting a new thread on GolfWRX about which PURE grips they liked the most. And the final two winners were chosen by posting a picture of their tackiest golf outfit on our Facebook page. 

So what did they win? 

The Prizes
In addition to an all-expenses paid trip to Phoenix for our tournament and a clinic with Hank Haney, every winner got:

• A dozen Titleist Prov’s

1^st and 2^nd place short game contest winners received a brand new set of Scratch golf clubs custom fit by Cool Clubs with new KBS shafts, while 3^rd place winners got a brand new Miura Driver with a new Oban Shaft.

And that was just the first night!

For our tournament winners, we knew we had to go above and beyond. By choosing a four-man 2 best ball format, we were able to give every player in the tournament a prize! 

• 1^st place: 4 brand new Taylor Made drivers with custom Accra shafts made for PURE grips. 
• 2^nd place: 4 brand new Bettinardi Putters
• 3^rd place: 4 new Miura Wedges with KBS shafts
• 4^th place: 4 $110 gift certificates to Kikkor.com
• 5^th place: 4 custom made PURE grips Swinkeys

When all was said and done, our first contest and tournament went better than we could have ever imagined. Not only did everyone have a ton of fun, but we learned so much and can’t wait to do it even bigger next year.
